Larapinta Trail - Alice Springs

Begin your 6 Days Larapinta Trek and wave goodbye to Alice at the top of Euro ridge before you trek throug the deep narrow passage of Wallaby Gap. You have the option to head to camp from here or continue on to the exclusive wilderness site, Nick's Camp, with stunning views across the Heavitree Range and Alice Valley.

From Nick's Campsite, follow the trail west through magnificent shady Bloodwoods and tall Ironwoods. Keeping an eye out for the shy Echidna or Black-footed Rock Wallaby as you approach Simpson's Gap. A short transfer takes you to the stunning Standley Chasm where you can undertake a walk to the top of the lookout and visit the Chasm that is still run by the traditional owners. Tonight camp overnight at Charlie's campsite, nestled in the foothills below Counts Point. 

The highlight of today is the 5km walk along the crest of the high ridge leading to Counts Point. From the summit enjoy views west to Mount Sonder, and where for the first time you can see the comet impact crater, Gosse Bluff. At the base of the ridge trek along the dolomite limestones toward camp, keeping your eye out for fossil stromatolites, one of the most ancient forms of life. Trek to Charlie's Camp to spend a relaxing afternoon amoungst the hills. Choose an optional  2km return walk this afternoon to Serpentine Chalet Dam and the chance for a swim in the dam. Tonight camp at Charlie's Campsite. 

Today trek to Inarlanga Pass to take in and marvel at the ancient Cycads and continue to the vibrant colour of the Aboriginal quarry at the Ochre Pits. Break for an early afternoon finish at the Finke river or relax at Glen Helen Resort in preperation for a big day tomorrow. There is an option to continue for the afternoon with a 10km walk from Ormiston Gorge to the Finke River which takes you through the diverse lowlands and Creek country. Transfer west to your campsite for the night at the foot of Mount Sonder. 

Today is an early start for a pre dawn walk for the ascent of Mount Sonder. Arrive at the summit for sunrise to see incredible views as the sun spreads. Descend to Redbank Gorge and enjoy a great brunch on the Finke river. This afternoon choose to relax or even take an optional helicopter flight over the west MacDonnell Ranges. Transfer to Camp Fearless with views of Mount Sonder for the night. 

Today explore Ormiston Pound, offering extraordinary scenery and wildlife and the chance to see Rock Wallabies as they scamper about the imposing cliffs. Conclude your tour with a transfer back to your selected hotel in Alice Springs.
