3 Day Queen Charlotte Walk

A pre-tour briefing is held the day prior to departure to get you ready and organised for your epic walk.

Transfer from your Picton hotel to join the water taxi to Ship Cove where your walking adventure begins. This historic reserve is a site of significance for local Maori, and was a favourite anchorage for Captain Cook during his explorations in the 1770s. Discover native bush including the stunning podocarp and beech forest with punga ferns. Settle into your lodge for the evening for a well-earned sleep.

Continue exploring the coast through native bush listening to the call of bellbirds, fantails and other native birds. Walk over a small swing bridge to the head of the Endeavour Inlet, and learn more about the anitomy and mining industry that thered there in the 1880s. Journey along the main track and arrive into Big Bay with its pristine native beech forest and find the beautiful Camps Bay where you will stay for the night.

The walk today is the most changelling where you will be walking on the ridgeline between Punga Cove and Tora Saddle near Portage. The reward is the truly spectacular vistas round every corner, an unforgettable walk for your last day. Be ready to be collected from Torea Bay at 5pm and return back to Picton.

If you would prefer to not do this walk, a water taxi will pick you up from Punga Cove in the morning and transfer you back to Picton.
